Amy Goncharsky is a native Tucsonan who has been investigating the art of origami for over 25 years, pretty much since she could fold a piece of paper. About 2010, she saw the works of Kevin Box and Robert J. Lang in converting paper to metal sculpture. This lead to a long term relationship with the Pima Community College Art Department, especially Joe Dal Pra, investigating the tools and methods of lost-wax casting to preserve paper and wax figures in bronze.
Amy continues to create figures with paper and more conventional sculpted castings in furtherance of her artistry and technique. Her presentations have included select woods and glass to complete the display, and all finished work is assembled by the artist. The unique glass elements include collaboration with John Wakefield of Artistry in Glass, Tucson.
